the drastic cuts, which will ax one in five civil service jobs and slash the minimum wage by more than a fifth.

Problem is, this still wont be enough.

Going to be a long hot summer.

Wow, the rioters are fucking geniuses. In a country with high unemployment and broke, they decide to destroy public property that will have to be fixed up with money Greece doesn't have, while they loot and burn places that provide(d) employment.
What a brilliant strategy to get Greece back on its feet.
    Bra-vo.

Greece is spiraling the drain. Primary concern is making sure the Greek's creditors are repaid.

Getting the country back on its feet seems to be a secondary consideration.

I assure you, my sarcasm was directed entirely at the rioters
As for what Greece is doing, ya gotta bail the water out of the canoe before you can fix the hole.
Whereas the rioters would prefer to just smash and burn the canoe.

They need to just opt out of the Euro and fix this properly already.

And likely, no government soon. This will like bring the current government down and have one less amenable to deep cuts in it's place.
