A fundamentalist church that picketed a US soldier's funeral because it believes military deaths in Iraq are punishment for American tolerance of homosexuality has been ordered to pay almost $11m compensation.

    A righteous ruling.

    They can stand on Mainstreet, USA all day long and protest if they wish but they have no right to picket a funeral with their message.

    This religious group are a bunch of wackos. I'm glad they were punished, but I don't think suing is the way to solve every problem. The US is obsessed with litigation.

    What bothers me is that you'd even have to pass a lw for this. Shouldn't it be common frickin' sense that you don't pull stuff like that at someone's funeral?

    Indeed! That disturbs me as well. Most likely there was no legistlation as no-one before ever considered such unacceptable behaviour would surface.
