Counterfeiting has become more prevalent as pharmaceutical supply chains increasingly stretch across continents. Over 80 percent of the active ingredients used in U.S. pharmaceuticals are now manufactured overseas, according to a recent congressional report, and experts say this has made it easier to move counterfeit products into this country.

If over 80% of the ingredients come from other countries it's no wonder that the counterfeiting is taking place. Why are the ingredients not manufactured in the US? Cost?

Sad to think of how many people may be taking meds (and spending huge amounts of $ on them) that are useless and potentially more harmful to them than the ailment they are suffering from to begin with.
