This is something I've been advocating for for years. It's not cool when your kid wants to do a report on the Whitehouse, types the Whitehouse in the address bar and up pops a porn site. Or when my wife decides to look for more cupcake recipes on line and whoops, there's a porn site.
Now, they just need the search engines to go along with this so that unless you specifically add the .xxx no porn sites will show up.
I'm not anti-porn, I just don't think it's cool that seemingly harmless searches can pop up more porno than anything else related to the search.
It's a good idea, but ICANN (or anybody else) is not forcing existing pron sites to move to the .xxx domain, all they've done is create a new domain that future porn sites can use. I'm willing to bet that most will simply snap up the .xxx equivalent of the address they already have and use a re-direct to their existing site.
