It's about time they took the communist restraints off of the people that want to earn more. This was Mitterands stupid idea and it killed French productivity.

35 hour week? I can't even count the times I've worked 35+ hours straight.

My work weeks are 33.5 hours long.
It's been almost a couple of years since I consistently put in 40 hours a week. The joys of the graveyard shift.

How do you think the french have dealt with this for the last eight years, employees and bosses hated it.

Feeding the kids is a good thing. :D

The French didn't get cut off pay. They just worked less hours for the same pay.

Funny thing is, they did it because the unemployment rate was so high. They did the same in Holland. The hours they worked less were filled by unemployed people who got a job this way. Now that the people are aging, there are too little people around to do the job, so they need to work more hours, and get paid for overtime on time that used to be just work time.

Ya gotta love Europe! As an employer, you are just screwed.

In Ontario its called the employment standards act... same idea... it limits your hours of work for the same employer.. in nursing alot of nurses work for several different places when they could work for the same one if they agreed to it..

In addition to my post... In France, you are not paid by the hour, but per month. If you are not there for an hour, you still get paid, or it will go off your holidays, that are paid for too...

So what happened years back, was that they kept the same salary, but just worked less for the same money.
