lol people are crying and jumping at him right now. He's like a Beatle

That's lame...

They're just jealous because it's a Democrat that's got the celebrity. If somehow it was a Republican celebrity president, we wouldn't be hearing this kvetching.

Eisensapper Eisensapper:
I dont see how he all that different from Bush, in regards to Canadian relations that is. Hence why I am not jumping up and down like a moron because he is coming to town.

I don't follow you on the jumping up and down part. I highly doubt the antics of some people in todays crowd or by our usual yokels in the Parliamentary press mob are representative of everyone who likes Obama and wishes him well in what's probably gong to turn out to be an impossible task, i.e. getting the United States turned back in a proper direction after almost two decades of genuinely terrible political leadership. I don't find the current Obama bashing by right wingers to be any less obnoxious than all the former Bush bashing by the left wingers. It's all equally ignorant, childish, and repulsive to me.

Just to cement my conservative street cred, I also find it immensely satisfying that the first Prime Minister to do the meet-and-greet with what will be an historically significant President just happened to be a Canadian Conservative, and not a Liberal. I'm sure that the genuine lefties who hate Stephen Harper and want him dead are just squirming in frustration that Taliban Jack and the douche in charge of the BQ traitors never even got within a hundred feet of the President. Serves the insignificant little assholes right, too.

Jealous ? Not at all. It's funny. It would have been the same thing if it was a Republican. He has not been President for 1 month yet.

No, I meant it's lame that people are acting this way. I couldn't care less which party he represents.

Personally I think it's eight years of pent-up frustration over Dubya, but it's still lame that people are acting this way.

While I, too, am getting a little tired of the fawning admiration, and the emphasis on style over substance, the alternative is further decent into apathy. Politics could do with an injection of enthusiasm, and popular interest.

Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass, I don't know.

Well, according to some crazy tin foil person, Justin Trudeau is cute and therefore should be qualified to be PM. If we can get that tool Ben Mulroney to run for the Conservatives, maybe kids today will start paying attention to politics...hell, maybe we could even do phone-in voting like Canadian Idol.

I would like something to stem the rising tide of apathytowards politics, but if that's what's required, we're all doomed...
