BeaverFever BeaverFever: DrCaleb DrCaleb: The Klien years may have sucked; but we still have some savings left, we have no debt, we don't pay sales tax or healthcare premiums and our personal income taxes are the lowest in North America outside of anywhere except possibly Alaska.
But I agree that gas/electric deregulation was a major farce that still is a sad echo of what what was promised. Some headlines from the past couple of years for you: Alberta families pay most in Canada for health, education, and utilities$340 fee to call an ambulance??? WTF??? In Ontario, it's $45! Alberta home to highest booze prices in Canada And some historical trending for you: Alberta ranks fourth for highest tuition fees (2007) Alberta tuition third highest in country: StatsCan (2009) Alberta student fees tops in country: StatsCan (2011)And? Did I say we were perfect? No. Get Blue Cross, then there are no ambulance fees and dental visits are covered too. Where is the requirement that booze be reasonably priced? (Most of Canada thinks of us as rich in oil income, but resource royalties only make up 48% of our income. 49% comes from taxes on Liquor, Lotteries and tobacco.) But we are a lot better off today because of the Kline era cuts than we might have been otherwise. Spending millions per year on interest to service debt was not a good thing. The cuts sucked, but just like when I am between jobs - my spending must match my income.

You realize that insurance is a mug's game, don't you? No, I'm new. But when a guy like me pays $450 a month for perscription drugs, $200 for Blue Cross becomes a smart idea.

OnTheIce OnTheIce: Ontario has nobody to blame by(sic) themselves. Of course we fear taxes in this Province right now, Dalton has been taking and taking since he got in the big chair and has done nothing but mismanage the money. Sure there's someone else to blame, two people in fact: Mike Harris and Ernie Eves. Had they not fucked up the province 100 times worse than McGuinty has, we'd be well finished with the Liberals by now. OnTheIce OnTheIce: They voted in this asshole 3 times and he's screwed us in the ass, prison style, no lube. Yup, but it's way better than the fisting we got from Mike Harris.

Go to it, lemmy. It would take me about five thousand words to cover the sins of Harris.

eureka eureka: Go to it, lemmy. It would take me about five thousand words to cover the sins of Harris. I love people like you. Harris puts a plan forth. Follows through. He's the asshole. McGuinty puts forth a plan. Doesn't follow through and goes back on his promises at a rate like we've never seen. Harris makes some changes and he's the ultimate boogyman. But McGuinty charms you with his smile while he grin-fucks you into bankruptcy. McGuinty has been the worst Premier during my lifetime. We will all be paying for his mistakes for generations. Besides Health and Education, interest on our debt is the next largest expense. That should scare the shit outta all of us in Ontario.

It is people like me who finally put the boots to Harris & co. who were, by far, not only the worst Ontario has ever known but the worst Canada has experienced. Not even Harper has reached his depths. This province has still not recovered from himl in spite of careful stewardship by McGuinty. Ontario has not recovered revenues to fully repair the Health, Education and Welfare systems that Harris virtually destroyed. The number in poverty increased by around 50% in the Harris years. Part of that train wreck is now transferred to Ottawa with the unholy trio assisting Harper who cannot go quite as far because some provinces will not let him. Harris created boom time deficit. Harris [payed Anderson Consulting (an American firm) $250 million to develop a computer system to catch non existent welfare cheaters. If memory serves, the amount recovered for that expenditure was $17 million. Harris was responsible for deaths from the poisoned wells and from tainted meat because of his cuts to essential services. (Like his followers are now planning at the federal level. Harper is an ideologue. Harris was truly evil.

Just a little McGuinty History:
1. The McGuinty Ontario Health Premium - The highest tax increase in Ontario's history
2. Delisting of OHIP Covered Necessary Health Services (Optometry (Eye), Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Services for Ontarians.)
3. The eHealth Scandal - That cost Ontario a Billion in wasted tax dollars.
4. The Caledonia Scandal.
5. The McGuinty Government has made Ontario Tuition Fees the highest in Canada
6. Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)
7. Smart Meters-The Smart Meters have cost Ontarians $1 Billion to implement, and have failed to provide the cost savings
8.Sunshine List's Skyrocketing - Where under Dalton McGuinty, the number of Ontario Public Sector workers making $100,000 or more has skyrocketed from just over 12,000 members in 2003, to a whopping 63,371 in 2009, or in total, an over 500% increase while Dalton McGuinty has been Premier.
9. Slush Fund Scandal - Where Dalton McGuinty's Government gave $32 Million to Liberal friendly groups
10. The G20 Scandal.
11. Hydro Rates- 46% increase in hydro rates in the next 5 years.
12. The Eco-Tax. The tax he thought he could sneak in without people noticing. We did and they pulled back.
That's Dalton's legacy.
More tax.
More debt.
Less Health Care.
More for education.
But we have full-day babysitting....er, kindergarten.
